Studying at EPN means receiving an education at par with the world’s best in a country that is simply one of a kind. Only 16 other countries on Earth are considered to be as mega-diverse, and Ecuador is the most compact of any of these. Ecuador is home to golden beaches, pristine snow-capped mountains, cloud forests, the Amazon jungle, the Galapagos Islands and much more … and all these distinct terrains are found within only hours of each other.

This environmental diversity is complemented by the country’s cultural diversity (drawn primarily from a blend of Indigenous, African and European legacies). EPN’s hometown and the nation’s capital, Quito, was the first city in the world to be declared a world heritage site thanks to its breathtaking colonial centre and rich history.

If you are having trouble choosing which country to visit for a study abroad experience, choose to see the whole world in a microcosm at its middle. As the national tourism slogan goes: “All you need is Ecuador”. All you need is Ecuador, and to have a fruitful study abroad experience in the country, all you need is EPN’s nationally top-ranked facilities and teaching.

EPN was established in 1869 and is ranked by the national accreditation board as Ecuador’s top university. Our international student guests are welcomed to enroll in any of EPN’s courses as long as they have completed appropriate prior studies and apply in time to ensure that space is available. The University’s 10,000 students study across eight faculties: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Exact Sciences (Mathematics, Physics), Systems Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Geology and Petroleum, Chemical Engineering and Agro-Industry, and Administrative Sciences. EPN also has a School of Technical Studies, an active Social Science Department and a Continuing Education Centre (CEC-EPN), which is the largest language-course provider in the country.

EPN is eager to add more international diversity to its campus, and our students are eager to meet you! If your university already holds an exchange agreement with EPN, please speak to someone at your international office for advice on how to apply. If not, please contact us for consultation on proposing a new exchange agreement between EPN and your university or to discuss the possibility of visiting independently of a formal exchange program as a “free-mover” study abroad student
